Biography:	Service number 11937 Battalion 1st Arthur was born in Drewton (Yorkshire), enlisted in Manchester and lived in Salford. Arthur drowned through the sinking of the troop ship HMT Royal Edward when sunk by the German submarine UB-14 she was en route to Gallipoli with nearly 1,400 men and officers.
